Community Water Fluoridation

Water fluoridation is considered one of the greatest public health innovations of all time. Fluoride in drinking water offers protection against cavities which is one of the most common chronic diseases in youth today. It is extremely safe and cost-effective.

With the right amount of fluoride in community water systems, cavities can be prevented in a community regardless of age, income or education. Communities that have fluoridated water tend to have fewer cavities than communities that do not have a significant amount of fluoride in the water. According to the CDC, the recommended amount of fluoride in water systems should be at a level of 0.7 milligrams per liter of drinking water.
