Oral Health for Adults
It is important to take care of your oral health at every stage in life. If you do not take care of your oral health, you can be at risk for certain disease such as cavities or gum disease (periodontal disease). These diseases can lead to other health issues if not taken care of. Below are some tips for taking care of your oral health. And remember, tooth decay and periodontal disease are completely preventable.
Brushing Tips
Brush twice a day for 2 minutes using a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Using a pea-size amount of toothpaste is perfect.
Floss Daily
Floss in between teeth at least once a day. There are many different types of floss out there. Use one that you are most comfortable with.
Dental Check-ups
Visit your dentist once every 6 months or 2x a year for a healthy mouth. Your dentist can clean spots that brushing and flossing can’t reach.
Avoid Smoking and Sugary Drinks
Try to avoid smoking or vaping, limit alcohol beverages and sugary drinks. Drinking plenty of water instead of sugary drinks can help stop cavities from forming.
